The homogenized version of information and continuous AI citations of authors as resources are fine…to a degree, as you pointed out.
Making sure your knowledge evolves and how you share that knowledge is critical. The great Eric Ward always pointed out that authors should make their information easy to cite.
I’ve already observed the degradation of knowledge about “information architecture” on AI and web search engine results in a short time.
I've been hoping more research about this will continue to come forward. I see it as averaging, or smoothing - and it's going to SEEM fine as long as consumers are OK with the answers. Eventually, though, it swings the other way and the LLMs themselves will start to prioritize the authentic, first-person, human-created content that will drive differentiation in their answers. In fairness, many, many answers we seek are fine as smoothed, averaged versions. But others, not so much.
